FC Barcelona wants to break Pedri's contract and extend it, Fabrizio Romano said in a video item on his YouTube channel. The Spaniard is contracted until mid-2026, but Barça wants to change that.

Pedri returned on Wednesday evening after more than a month of absence. The midfielder struggled with a hamstring injury, but was able to make his return against Paris Saint-Germain.

The 21-year-old playmaker was immediately important for his club. Just a minute after his substitution, Pedri provided a superb assist to Raphinha, who leveled the score again. In the end, Barça won 2-3 thanks to a goal from Andreas Christensen.

Barcelona would therefore very much like to extend Pedri. The club has informed the entourage of the top talent that they are currently preparing an offer. Discussions have not yet taken place.

Negotiations with the player and his management are planned 'sometime in the coming months'. It looks like Pedri is interested in a longer stay in Catalonia.

In recent years, several clubs, including PSG, have signed for the Spain international, but the midfielder wanted nothing more than to stay at Barcelona.

Pedri only played sixteen LaLiga matches this season due to injuries. He scored two goals and also provided two assists for a teammate.

The contracts of top talents Lamine Yamal and Alejandro Baldé were also recently extended by the Catalan superpower. The former is now contracted until mid-2026. Baldé signed until mid-2028. The club is also in discussions with Pau Cubarsci.
