Fredrik Aursnes will sign with Benfica this week. That says transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who has previously reported on the General Newspaper contradicts. Journalist Mikos Gouka said that, partly due to the earlier outgoing transfer of Marcos Senesi, it could just be that Feyenoord wanted to receive more money for Aursnes and that the deal could collapse there.

Romano reports Monday afternoon that Benfica is ready to hit the negotiations with Feyenoord this week and reach an agreement on the transfer of Aursnes. The midfielder has been linked to the Portuguese top club for weeks and talks about his market value have been going on for some time, but the transfer expert predicts that that will soon come to an end. Details are still being discussed between the clubs. Aursnes has been in personal agreement with Benfica for some time now.

That reporting is at odds with the words of Gouka, who noticed that Feyenoord doubted whether it still wanted to sell Aursnes after Senesi’s departure. “Perhaps this was enough to be completely in order financially and they now decide not to sell at all. Slot now has the idea that Aursnes also plays against Heerenveen (next weekend, ed.) and Benfica has still not put down what Feyenoord wants to see. Senesi has now been sold and perhaps something still needs to be added. Then it might be difficult for Benfica and there is a chance that Aursnes will stay with Feyenoord.”

Aursnes was the bargain of technical director Frank Arnesen during the previous summer transfer window of Feyenoord. The Rotterdammers paid only five tons to the Norwegian Molde. In his first season, the 26-year-old midfielder immediately became one of the most important players in Arne Slot’s team. Furthermore, Aursnes came into the picture even more with the national team of Norway. In his first season, he played 47 official games for Feyenoord, scoring once and providing four assists.
