The interest of Manchester United and coach Erik ten Hag in Marko Arnautovic has been received with laughter in England. Gary Neville and Micah Richards, analysts at Sky Sportsreacted in disbelief when they learned that United had made an initial offer of around €10 million for the Austrian forward.

Neville became after the meeting between The Mancunians and Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford, which the guests surprisingly won 1-2, faced the interest of United and Ten Hag in Arnautovic. The English analyst sighed. “I have an opinion about everything except Arnautovic coming to Man United. I won’t say anything about that. It’s desperate, a pattern. It happens over and over and it doesn’t even make me angry anymore. I’m not going here respond to.”

Richards made the effort. The former Manchester City defender can imagine that colleague Neville is done with the transfer activities of the red club from Manchester and believes that the interest in Arnautovic does not suit an English top club. “What happened to Manchester United? Seriously? I don’t intend to take them down completely again. Arnautovic was once a good player, but now he is 33 years old and plays in Italy.”

Manchester United would have made an offer of nine million euros, excluding one to two million in bonuses. English media report that it is not yet clear how Bologna has reacted, but according to transfer journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the offer has been rejected. Manchester United may return with a higher offer, as Erik ten Hag would like to have the 33-year-old Austrian. Arnautovic previously worked with Ten Hag between 2007 and 2009. At the time, de Tukker was active as assistant coach to Steve McClaren at FC Twente.
