Several Premier League clubs are looking to sue Everton over the huge loss the club has suffered over the past three years. Clubs active at the highest level are allowed to lose up to €125 million over a three-year period, but the Liverpool club has lost €446 million in the last three years. Despite the Toffees Having previously made an arrangement with the Premier League not to be penalized for the loss, they could now run into trouble over charges from some of their rivals.

Everton last week postponed publishing its financial figures for the 2020/21 season, which seems to be the last straw for many Premier League clubs. However, the club admitted to having incurred a loss of 143 million euros in that year. There is great misunderstanding and dissatisfaction among the club’s competitors, who now want to take action with a complaint. A major investigation is underway into Everton’s financial accounting. To avoid punishment, the current number seventeen of the Premier League agreed to an arrangement from the English football league, which would oversee all transfers and new contracts.

The penalty was faced by the club after violating the rules of the Premier League. Clubs operating at the highest level in England are allowed to incur a loss of up to €125 million over a three-year period. Exceptions to that rule include investments in the stadium, a club’s women’s section, infrastructure and community projects. In this case, however, these investments do not appear to be the case. The low flyer suffered a loss of no less than 446 million euros in the past three years. Everton face the same treatment as Derby County due to the indictment of the rivals. Due to financial mismanagement, the first divisionist was deducted 21 points.

Everton also suffered a setback last month when ties with Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov were severed. The wealthy businessman had sponsorship deals with Everton through various companies. By ending the collaboration with Usmanov, the club will miss out on approximately 360 million euros over a period of twenty years. The financial problems became visible at Everton last summer. In the transfer period, four players were recruited on a free transfer, while only two million euros were deposited for Demarai Gray. A big difference with the six years before, when, among others, then technical director Marcel Brands spent more than five hundred million euros on new players.

The team of Frank Lampard, who was appointed in February, is also not doing well in sports. They have lost six of their last six league games. Everton are in 17th place with 25 points from 28 matches. The gap to number eighteen Watford, which is in a relegation spot, is three points. Everton played two games less. Next Wednesday, the crucial relegation cracker with Wout Weghorst’s Burnley is on the program. Burnley occupies the penultimate place with 21 points.
