PSV is willing to cooperate in a definitive departure of Derrick Luckassen, it writes Eindhovens Dagblad† The 26-year-old defender is currently rented out to the Turkish Fatih Karagümrük, but seems to have no future in Eindhoven. The cooperation between PSV and Luckassen has been difficult for years. The mandekker has already been rented out four times, after it was taken over from AZ by the people of Eindhoven in 2017 for five million euros. Several clubs are said to be interested in Luckassen’s services.

After previously being loaned out to Hertha BSC, RSC Anderlecht and Kasimpasa, Luckassen is currently wearing the shirt of Fatih Karagümrük, who is in eighth place in the Süper Lig with one round to go. The Turkish club likes a longer stay for the Dutchman and has been told by PSV that the club is not unsympathetic to a definitive departure. Luckassen still has a one-year contract and can reportedly be taken over for a pittance. It Eindhovens Dagblad writes that PSV can only take a different position if Luckassen has the intention to sign with a club from the Eredivisie.

Luckassen was loaned out to Hertha in the 2019/19 season and played for Anderlecht a season later. Last winter he made the switch to Kasimpasa, after which he was retained for the Turkish league and signed for Fatih Karagümrük in the summer. Luckassen was not part of Roger Schmidt’s plans in the run-up to the current season and trained separately from the group. He was, after Denzel Dumfries (Inter Milan), Donyell Malen (Borussia Dortmund), Mohamed Ihattaren (Juventus) and Pablo Rosario (OGC Nice), the fifth player coached by Mino Raiola to leave PSV last summer.

In 2017, Luckassen had made such an impression on PSV’s technical leadership that the club decided to transfer five million euros to AZ for his services. Luckassen’s adventure in Eindhoven soon turned out to be a disappointment. He started the season as a starting player, but disappeared as the season went on to the reserve bench and even out of the game squad. In total, Luckassen played 25 official games for PSV in four years, in which he scored 1 time and provided 2 assists. This summer, both parties will most likely be liberated from each other for good.
