Bayer Leverkusen is in the final of the DFB-Pokal. The successful formation of coach Xabi Alonso was too strong for Fortuna Düsseldorf at home on Wednesday evening with 4-0 and can therefore still dream of the double. Leverkusen is heading for the Bundesliga title and can now prepare for the cup final. FC Kaiserslautern is the opponent.

Particularities:

Leverkusen took the lead after seven minutes in the BayArena thanks to Jeremie Frimpong. Patrick Schick mowed half over a pass from Granit Xhaka, after which the ball ended up with the Dutch international. Frimpong didn't think twice and shot hard behind Düsseldorf goalkeeper Florian Kastenmeier: 1-0.

Leverkusen would double the margin more than fifteen minutes later after wonderful combination football. Alejandro Grimaldo and Edmond Tapsoba played well under the pressure of the visitors, which ensured that Florian Wirtz had plenty of space to set up a counter. The Germans' super talent kept the overview and passed on to Amine Adli on the left wing. The latter scored in the far corner: 2-0.

Ten minutes before half-time, Wirtz himself got on the scoreboard and Adli was the man who provided the assist. Kastenmeier simply pushed the ball into the feet of Robert Andrich and within two passes Wirtz was face to face with the Düsseldorf keeper. The German did not fail: 3-0. Wirtz did not do that either in the sixtieth minute, when he put the final score on the board from the penalty spot: 4-0.
