Bayer Leverkusen crashed hard at Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday afternoon. Leverkusen, with Jeremie Frimpong and Mitchel Bakker in the base, went down painfully 5-1. Due to the victory, Frankfurt takes the fourth place for the time being from Bayern Munich, which will play on Sunday. Leverkusen is still in the danger zone with sixteenth place.

Frankfurt showed attacking intent from the start and was close to scoring the opening goal via Mario Götze in the fifth minute. The former PSV player saw his shot fly just wide of the left post from the edge of the sixteen-meter area. The home team remained threatening in the initial phase via Randal Kolo Muani, Daichi Kamada and Jesper Lindstrøm, without really testing Leverkusen goalkeeper Lukás Hrádecký. After half an hour, the Finnish goalie had an excellent save on an attempt by Kolo Muani. However, the home side took the lead before half-time. A foul by Edmond Tapsboba led to a penalty, which was used by Kamada in two instances: 1-0.

In the second act, Leverkusen seemed to turn his back, after Hincapie worked a nice header behind Kevin Trapp: 1-1. However, the joy of the visitors, where Daley Sinkgraven and Timothy Fosu-Mensah started on the bench, only lasted two minutes. Kolo Muani was accurate this time, after he extended a fine cross from Christopher Lenz with the head: 2-1. Eintracht gained wings and rewarded himself in the person of Lindstrøm, who worked the ball over Hrádecký: 3-1. After Hincapie had caused a penalty, and thus received his second yellow card, it was over for the team of trainer Xabi Alonso. Kamada was again accurate from the spot, after which Rafael Santos Borré made it 5-1 in the final phase just before the Leverkusen goal.
