Vincent Mannaert, general manager of Club Brugge, has been convicted again for drunk driving and hit and run. In November 2020, Mannaert was involved in a pile-up in Nevele, Belgium, where one person was injured. According to The last news he apologized and then committed a hit-and-run. Mannaert will be banned from driving for 15 months, an alcohol lock for three years and a fine of eight thousand euros. It is already the fifth time that the Club Brugge driver has been convicted of a similar offense.

According to witnesses, Mannaert got out of the car after last year’s collision and made his sincere apologies. Nevertheless, he left the scene of the accident moments later. At the time, Mannaert reacted briefly to the incident, but he was not aware of any harm. “I did leave together with another person involved, because a sixth car had hit the cars and we risked our lives there,” said the general manager, who also indicated that he himself had called the police to describe the incident. .

Since it is not the first time that Mannaert was involved in an incident involving excessive alcohol consumption behind the wheel, the penalty was relatively high. For the hit-and-run and drunk driving, he was fined EUR 3,200 and EUR 4,800 respectively and a driving ban of three months and one year. Mannaert also has to pass medical and psychological tests and retake his theoretical and practical driving test. When he has served the driving ban, he must have an alcohol interlock installed in the car for three years. Mannaert can still appeal the verdict.

Mannaert was also convicted in May earlier this year. Then he was given a three-month driving ban, a fine of 3,200 euros and a mandatory alcohol lock for one year. He was stopped in Ostend and then had 2.44 per mille alcohol in his blood. In 2011, Mannaert drove into a house with the car, which resulted in a fine of 1,100 euros and a driving ban of one month.
