Valentijn Driessen believes that John Heitinga is responsible for the behavior of Ajax players during the past matches. The head of football The Telegraph believes that the team from Amsterdam misbehaved during the away games at 1. FC Union Berlin (3-1 defeat) and Vitesse (1-2 win). Driessen doesn’t understand it. “Players of Ajax should of course not behave like that,” said the journalist. Johan Derksen again believes that Heitinga is responsible for the underperformance of Steven Bergwijn and Owen Wijndal.

Driessen disagrees with presenter Wilfred Genee’s statement that Heitinga has everything under control at Ajax. “It has no wind at all. He may win some matches, but if you see how those players behave… Both on and off the field. In Germany of course, but also last weekend at Vitesse. Then I wonder if he has the wind under it, because that is not how Ajax players should behave.”

The journalist names one Ajax player in particular. “That fighting, what is it about? Bergwijn among others. You lose there with those Germans without a chance and then you will be difficult after the game. Show it in that match,” said Driessen, who thinks Heitinga should point this out to his players. “The coach is of course also responsible for that. Of course there is almost no leadership at Ajax at the moment.”

Derksen blames Heitinga for the Ajax players not performing. “What I do not understand. Ajax has bought a good left winger and a good left back. They have proven that at other clubs, but they don’t work at Ajax. I think that is also the responsibility of a coach, because he must get the optimal return from players. He can’t say those two can’t play football, but they don’t give a shit!” Heitinga is currently at the helm for eight games as head coach of Ajax. The team from Amsterdam won six matches, drew one and lost for the first time under Heitinga in Berlin last Thursday.
