Hakim Ziyech’s future does not lie with Borussia Dortmund. Earlier on Tuesday wrote BILD that the club is considering a rental construction with an option to buy, but according to Sports1 a switch in the winter is excluded. Dortmund is unable to match or approach the salary that Ziyech earns from Chelsea, more than ten million euros a year. Even if Chelsea were to continue to pay a portion of it, the cost would be ahead BVB too far up.
Ziyech has a contract with Chelsea until mid-2025, but is not assured of a base place. According to Sports1 he was offered to Dortmund by his agent Mustapha Nakhli. The club then ‘casually’ inquired about the ex-Ajacied and concluded that he is unaffordable. Moreover, according to Dortmund’s estimation, he does not fit seamlessly into Marco Rose’s system, because Ziyech prefers to play from the axis of the field than on the flanks. Finally, Dortmund is questioning Ziyech’s discipline after he lost his place with the Morocco national team.
Last month Ziyech responded to Tiki Taka Touzani on his expulsion by national coach Vahid Halilhodzic. “He has his view of it, I have my view of it. It is what it is. I know what happened, that’s the most important thing to me,” Ziyech said. He denied acting unprofessionally, refusing to play or putting himself above the group, as Halilhodzic claimed. “For the first time in my career I saw a player in the national team who does not want to train and pretends to be injured,” the national coach said, among other things. “Although tests have shown that he can play. I will not tolerate this behavior as long as I am the national coach of Morocco.”
For the time being, the question remains where Ziyech’s future lies. On Monday, transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano wrote that the 28-year-old creative is considered ‘plan B’ at Barcelona if the arrival of Ferrán Torres cannot be realised. At the moment Torres is said to have reached a personal agreement with Barcelona, but the club is not yet finished with Manchester City. Barcelona has offered €50 million, while City are asking for €60 million.
