Ajax would prefer to keep David Neres until the end of the season. The attacker’s management denies that the Amsterdam club has announced that the Brazilian has been placed on the transfer list to change clubs in the winter. Erik ten Hag in particular is a big proponent of the continuity of Neres, even though the Ajax trainer often opts for a different interpretation of the vanguard this year of football.

“Those rumors are not true,” Revien Kanhai of Forza Sports Group told Tuesday Ajax Showtime. “Ajax prefers to finish the season with Neres, unless there is an offer that is satisfactory to both parties. The club would prefer to enter into the decisive months of the season with Neres. Ajax knows from own experience that he can then be decisive for the club.”

Last week, after the cup match with BVV Barendrecht (4-0 win), Ten Hag was asked what Neres would need to get back his old form. “What do you understand by its old form? What do you expect from him?”, Ten Hag wondered. The coach does not believe that the Brazilian played with more confidence in the wonderful 2018/19 season. “Neres didn’t score twenty goals that year either. He creates chances, Wednesday evening even a lot. Only they didn’t go in, but he does create them.”

Neres, 24, has played 21 games in all competitions so far this season. However, he only appeared at the starting signal five times. The Brazilian was allowed to leave last summer, but a transfer was not forthcoming. “He’s been here for four and a half years, so it was the right time for him to move to a new environment,” football affairs director Marc Overmars said in September. Football International.

“It’s disappointing that it didn’t work out. Many clubs wanted to hire him, but that is of no use to Ajax. We have continuously resisted that.” All clubs hiccuped against the desired transfer fee of more than twenty million euros, bonuses and a percentage of resale. Neres’ contract with Ajax will expire in mid-2023.
