Donny van de Beek seems to postpone his transfer wish at Manchester United for a while, reports ESPNjournalist Rob Dawson. The midfielder only played 198 minutes under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season. However, due to the imminent arrival of Ralf Rangnick as interim coach, a longer stay at Old Trafford is not excluded.

Like his teammate Anthony Martial, Van de Beek can count on the interest of interested clubs, because the pair barely got any playing time under Solskjaer. They may or may not make a temporary transfer in January, but according to ESPN both players will postpone their decision. Under interim manager Rangnick, there may be more prospects for the duo. Van de Beek and Martial want to find out if they fit into Rangnick’s system before they decide to leave United.

Michael Carrick, who temporarily took over the honors at United after Solskjaer’s resignation, gave Martial and Van de Beek a base place on Tuesday during the 0-2 Champions League win at Villarreal. Ragnick’s assistant manager praised Van de Beek on Friday at the press conference in the run-up to Sunday evening’s Premier League match with Chelsea. “Donny van de Beek is one of the players who is extremely versatile and can play in different positions,” says Carrick. “We have ideas about where we think Donny would come into his own, but his versatility is a real weapon and makes him an asset to the team.”

Meanwhile, Jesse Lingard also faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford. The 28-year-old attacker excelled on loan at West Ham United last season. He too had to make do with few substitutes under Solskjaer at United in recent months. Lingard’s current contract with the Red Devils will expire in mid-2022 and from January 1, the attacker will be allowed to talk to interested clubs.

However, West Ham manager David Moyes has quelled speculation about a reunion with the attacker in January. “He’s a Manchester United player and I’m not going to talk about players at other clubs,” Moyes said of Lingard earlier this month. “All I can say is we really enjoyed Jesse, he’s been a great contribution to the team and he’s helped the team. The team has moved on, we’ve moved on, so look, Jesse is a Manchester United player and it’s up to them to decide what he does.”
