Conrad Jaden Egan-Riley has only one goal at PSV: to break into the first team. The defender (21), who was hired from Burnley, made his first minutes on Friday evening on behalf of Jong PSV, which had little difficulty with FC Emmen at De Herdgang: 3-0. Riley started as a center back, although he did not complete the ninety minutes.

“This was my first official match since last May,” Egan-Riley said Eindhovens Dagblad. “I had played some practice matches for Burnley, but I was out of action for a long time due to a hamstring injury. Tonight (Friday evening, ed.) everything felt fine and I was able to complete another half. This leaves me wanting more.”

Egan-Riley had been on the list of general director Marcel Brands for some time. Last summer, the young Englishman was already on the verge of exchanging Burnley for PSV. “It was bizarre,” he says six months later.

“I would prefer to put it completely behind me and I don't know the exact details anymore. I was ready to come to PSV and had already packed my bags, but suddenly I couldn't go to the Netherlands anymore because it wasn't possible after all.” came.”

Egan-Riley arrived in Eindhoven six months later and has not regretted the decision to choose PSV for a moment. “You are amazed when you come here to Eindhoven. The facilities at Manchester City and Burnley are also top-notch, but this is a really beautiful complex. PSV is a top step for me, I already know that.”

“I also know the story of Noni Madueke, who came here a lot younger. He did very well and was able to return to the Premier League (to Chelsea, ed.). I don't know him personally, but I do know a number of people who guide him. They were very positive about PSV. I notice that the club really has a plan for me,” said Egan-Riley, four-time England youth international.

According to it Eindhovens Dagblad PSV can permanently acquire Egan-Riley from Burnley after this season via a purchase option of between two and three million euros. “I ultimately want to join the first team, but I have to be patient,” the loanee knows that he still has a lot of work to do in Eindhoven.
