MVV Maastricht handed over a victory in the Kitchen Champion Division at the last minute. For a long time it looked like the team of coach Maurice Verberne would take three points, but Roda JC Kerkrade came alongside in the ninetieth minute: 1-1. Due to the draw in the Limburg derby, MVV concludes the fifth round in eighth place in the ranking; Roda JC is fifth with two points more.
The home team started the derby convincingly and already created the first serious chance of the game in the third minute of play. A shot by Nicky Souren nipped in the bud, after which goalkeeper Moritz Nicolas saved on a header by Koen Kostons. The score was opened by MVV less than 120 seconds later. Kostons put Jarne Streuckers face to face with Nicolas with a nice pass. The attacker’s assumption was good enough to be able to finish from close range: 1-0.

In the eleventh minute the team from Maastricht had to deal with a setback: Leroy Labylle was injured and was replaced by Lars Schenk. Halfway through the first act, Roda JC seemed to take matters into her own hands. Teun Bijleveld, for example, became dangerous with a shot from the edge of the penalty area and Bryan Limbombe was a toe-length short to give Mohamed Mallahi’s cross the desired follow-up. On the stroke of half-time, MVV had two more chances to double the lead, but due to the lack of fortune in the completion, the 2-0 was not forthcoming.
In the opening phase of the second company, MVV was again given two options to expand the advantageous margin. First Nicolas reacted in time to intercept a dangerous cross ball towards Steuckers; then Orhan Dzepar headed just wide of the post. Although Kostons and Sven Blummel could also have scored, Roda JC held their ground. In the final phase, the visitors increased the pressure on the enemy goal and MVV came up against the wall. In the end, the home team succumbed to the pressure: substitute debutant Romano Postema equalized in the ninetieth minute: 1-1.
