Barcelona would like to add a left-back to the squad next summer. Júnior Firpo is on his way to the exit at the Catalans, after which another stand-in for Jordi Alba has to be brought in. Mundo Deportivo writes that José Gaya is the dream candidate at Barcelona, but if he proves too expensive, the attention could shift to Nicolás Tagliafico or Robin Gosens.

Alejandro Balde is currently developing stormy at Barcelona B, but at 17 he is considered too young and inexperienced for the role of stand-in for Alba. For that vacancy, a more experienced left-back must be brought in and Gayá is the ideal candidate. However, it promises to be a complicated operation to free the 26-year-old fullback from Valencia.

Valencia’s new coach José Bordalás has no intention of letting the captain leave. However, the coach who came over from Getafe does not have the last word in the field of transfers, because the club management will make the decision on whether or not to sell Gaya. His contract, which runs until mid-2023, contains a surrender clause of 40 million euros, but that is an amount that Barcelona cannot afford at the moment. The Catalans will try to reduce this amount, possibly by offering a player in exchange.

Should the arrival of Gayá prove unfeasible, Barcelona will shift their attention to a cheaper option. One of those options is Gosens, who still has a contract with Atalanta until mid-2022 and can therefore be picked up in Bergamo for a relatively lower amount. Tagliafico is also considered an affordable option. The Argentine full-back has made no secret of the fact that he would like to make a transfer next summer. Tagliafico was previously linked to Leeds United and Internazionale, among others.
