Dominik Oroz has been leased by Vitesse to Sturm Graz. The club reports this on its official channels. The defender has to stay in Austria due to conscription rules, so Vitesse had no choice but to allow a temporary transfer. The people from Arnhem therefore speak of a ‘hopeless situation’.

In recent months, Oroz could not show his face at Vitesse, because he had to stay in Austria due to conscription rules. In addition, the mandekker had not applied for an exemption and he no longer escaped the obligations. In all likelihood, Oroz cannot simply join the selection of trainer Thomas Letsch in the coming months, so a rental transfer to Sturm Graz was the only solution. The contract of the Croatian youth international has been extended by one year, so that Vitesse can receive a transfer fee for his services in the future.

Technical director Benjamin Schmedes says in the Arnhem press release, which refers to a ‘hopeless situation’, that he is relieved that there is a solution. “For now, this brings an end to a lingering and annoying situation. As Vitesse, we have tried several times to get Dominik back to the Netherlands, but unfortunately that did not work. As a club, we were unable to exert any influence on this. “That is of course frustrating, also in view of the occupation in the rear. However, with the knowledge that we no longer had to rely on Dominik this calendar year, this is the most sensible outcome.”

Oroz was taken over by Vitesse in January 2021 from FC Liefering, an Austrian club from the Red Bull group. So far, the central defender has played 43 official games for the Arnhem team, scoring three goals. Previously, the Croatia youth international, who was born in Vienna, played for Wiener Sportklub, Austria Wien and First Vienna.
