Wesley Hoedt has unintentionally made negative headlines. The Telegraph reports Tuesday that Antoon ‘Toon’ H. and son Cobus were arrested during large-scale raids on a caravan camp in Heerhugowaard. Son Cobus is seen by the police as the mastermind behind a criminal organization with various drug labs in the Netherlands and Belgium. Father Toon runs a car company in Opmeer in North Holland together with Hoedt, but the Anderlecht defender is not considered a suspect.

Hoedt, who was born and raised in Alkmaar has not yet responded to the arrest of his partner. The police will not specifically comment on names on Tuesday, but can confirm that a 54-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of fraud, money laundering and forgery. A 32-year-old man from the same place of residence in North Holland was arrested and accused of involvement in synthetic drug labs in the Netherlands and Belgium. Multiple sources surrounding the study confirm to The Telegraph that it concerns father and son H..

In the large-scale investigation into the business of Toon H., the police and the FIOD thoroughly searched a house in Heerhugowaard and a car company in Opmeer. Several cars were seized in the raids on the two places. Cash and various luxury goods were also seized. He is suspected of cheating with the mileage of several cars. Toon H. is currently in restriction and has to wait and see how the judiciary will handle the case in the coming period.

Hoedt has been playing in Anderlecht’s shirt since the beginning of this season, where his contract runs until mid-2025. Earlier in his career, the 27-year-old center defender played abroad for Lazio, Southampton, Royal Antwerp FC and Celta de Vigo. In the Netherlands, his career took shape at AZ. Hoedt also played six times for the Dutch national team, although his last international match dates from 2017.
