Manchester United have confirmed that management has started the process of finding ‘strategic alternatives’ for the club. The club says that ‘all’ options are being kept open, including new investments in the club, sale or other transactions. In addition, it is possible that owners Avram and Joel Glazer will sell their club. United wants to improve in several areas, including the stadium. United also indicates that it wants to redevelop the infrastructure within the club.

In addition, the club of manager Erik ten Hag indicates that it wants to expand the commercial operations of the club worldwide. It wants to do that to guarantee the long-term success of both the men’s and women’s teams and the youth academy. The club thinks that the fans of the Red Devils will benefit, as will shareholders. The news comes shortly after Cristiano Ronaldo lashed out at the club. The Portuguese, who was announced earlier on Tuesday that he is leaving the club immediately, was particularly critical of quite a few things within the club, including the aspects that United now want to improve.

Avram and Joel Glazer have also commented. “Manchester United’s strength is built on the passion and loyalty of our 1.1 billion supporters. We want to extend the club’s history and success, so the board has approved a thorough review of strategic alternatives. We will evaluate all options to to ensure that our fans and Manchester United take full advantage of the club’s growth potential, now and in the future.”

In Ronaldo’s much-discussed interview, the star player also left no stone unturned from the Glazers. For example, Ronaldo said that he thinks the owners do not care about the club. Like the Portuguese, United’s supporters are certainly not fans of the owners. That sentiment already started with the takeover of the club. The acquisition price was set at 790 million pounds, but the Glazers themselves invested 270 million pounds. The rest of the money was borrowed, leaving United with an additional debt of more than £500 million.
