Latest update:

Thomas Müller extended his expiring contract with Bayern Munich by one year on Tuesday. The 34-year-old midfielder and attacker is now stuck in southern Germany until mid-2025.

BILD reported last month that Erik ten Hag's Manchester United wanted to take advantage of Müller's expiring contract and were considering approaching this winter der Rekordmeister. That transfer now seems to be completely off track.

Müller has been playing in a Bayern shirt since he was ten, but has recently had to settle for a reserve role in Thomas Tuchel's team. The top talent Jamal Musiala is in his place and is often preferred over the experienced Müller.

The same BILD also reported last month that the Germany international has no plans to stop playing football. He seems to confirm this on Bayern's website after his extension.

“I am happy that my journey at Bayern continues. I want to do my part to remain successful, both as a team and as a whole club. I think it is important to remain part of the team and help the team in the right direction.”

“I want to excite the fans with goals, help create chances, my love for the game, my passion for football and hopefully with many more titles,” he concludes on the club website.

With Bayern he won twelve Bundesliga titles and won the Champions League twice. He has made 684 appearances for Bayern's first team so far, scoring 237 goals and providing 261 assists. Things are not going so smoothly this season. In twelve appearances he scored one goal and four assists.
