Bruno Fernandes has written an open letter to fans of Manchester United a day before Manchester United's FA Cup final against Manchester City The Red Devils. In it, the captain writes, among other things, that he does not want to leave and that his goals are still sky-high.

“I know it has not been an easy season for you,” Fernandes addresses the fans in an open letter The Players' Tribune. “We have not met the standards you deserve. We couldn't match the level of your support on the field. As captain I feel responsible for this.”

“It starts with me,” said the 29-year-old Portuguese. “And the improvement starts tomorrow (Saturday, ed.). We have to give everything in this last game against Manchester City and we have to move forward.” Manchester United managed to get past Coventry City in the semi-finals of the cup tournament and will therefore face city rival Manchester City on Saturday.

Fernandes then addresses the transfer rumors that have arisen around him in recent weeks. “I don't want to leave at all. This has always been my ultimate dream. I love playing at Old Trafford more than anything in the world,” writes Fernandes, who still has sky-high expectations for the future.

“I just want my expectations to match the club's expectations. If you talk to any fan they will tell you the same thing. We want to compete for the national title. We want to play Champions League football. We want to be in the cup finals. That's the standard. That is what I want. That is what you all deserve,” the captain addresses the supporters.

Leaving is therefore not an option for Fernandes, he then emphasizes again. “I just want to keep fighting. I want to be here. My family wants to be here. If you doubt that for even a moment, all you have to do is look at my Spotify Wrapped and it will prove it to you…” he concludes.

The objectives will most likely have to be achieved next season without Erik ten Hag. Among other The Guardian reported on Friday that the 54-year-old coach will be fired after the FA Cup final, regardless of the result.
