Brian Brobbey is calmer in the field these days than before. The Ajax striker explains this ESPN, after the Conference League match with FK Bodø/Glimt. Brobbey talks a lot to his brothers, and they have advised him to stop yelling at the referees.

Brobbey has improved considerably at Ajax in recent months. He shows that he is of great value, especially with his goals, but also because he is physically strong and therefore functions as a point of contact.

He did not appear on the scoresheet against Bodø, but he did earn a penalty just before the ninetieth minute. Odin Bjørtuft committed a foul on Brobbey, after which the defender was sent off and Branco van den Boomen took advantage of the penalty awarded: 1-2. A few minutes later, Steven Berghuis also made it 2-2.

The fact that Brobbey is a difficult opponent for many defenders is evident from the fact that he sometimes has to endure a lot in physical duels. Bee ESPN he is asked whether that is frustrating for him.

“It's frustrating, but I just have to keep doing my thing, keep my focus and keep my wits about me,” the attacker responds. “Then it all happens automatically. It could have been better today, of course I also had a chance to make it. But I don't think it's because I worked hard.”

Reporter Cristian Willaert then notes that Brobbey has become calmer. Previously, he sometimes expressed his anger towards the referee, but that seems less the case now. “I have calmed down,” he agrees. “My brothers talk to me a lot, telling me to stop shouting at the referee. And I was on edge today. I think if you start yelling at the referee, he's just going to make a decision against you. So from now on I will remain calm.”

All in all, the attacker saw that Ajax had anything but an easy time against the Norwegian club. “It was a very difficult match. As you can see, we were not able to cope well with applying pressure. I also think they have a very good football team. Tough team. We have to keep our wits about us next week and keep our agreements. And I have to stay calm.”
