Newcastle United has finally done what it had to do in the battle for the Champions League tickets in England. Nottingham Forest won 1-2 thanks to a late penalty from Alexander Isak, who also scored the equalizer in stoppage time of the first half. In doing so, he ensured that a major mistake by Sven Botman, who initiated Emmanuel Dennis’ opening goal on behalf of Nottingham Forest, had no major consequences.

After half an hour of play, Botman thought he could play the ball back to his keeper, but the pass from the left leg was much too soft. Dennis was able to intercept, got the ball under control and bounced the ball over Nick Pope and his defenders: 1-0. Isak scored the equalizer just before half-time, but only really made himself immortal deep into injury time. The Swedish striker was allowed to take a penalty kick and remained cool (1-2), resulting in the Magpies still won and Botman will have breathed a sigh of relief.

The central defender, who was told on Friday that he is in the final selection of the Dutch national team for the first time, knows that Newcastle is doing very good business in the battle for a ticket to the Champions League thanks to the victory. The formation from the north of England is approaching Tottenham Hotspur, the number four, namely to four points and still has a game in hand. The Spurs will still be in action this weekend and will visit Southampton, the last of the Premier League.
