Luis Suárez has no lack of interest after his transfer-free departure from ‘his’ Club Nacional. The 35-year-old Uruguayan rejected an official offer from the Brazilian Grêmio last week and according to Revelo the following club has now reported: LA Galaxy. The former Ajax player is currently in talks with the Americans.

Revelo even calls the club from Los Angeles the strongest contender in the battle for Suárez’s signature. The striker returned to Nacional last summer, where he enjoyed his education and forced a transfer to FC Groningen in 2006. After successful spells with Ajax, Liverpool, Barcelona and Atlético Madrid, Suárez returned to become Uruguayan champion for the second time of his career with his childhood sweetheart. He succeeded.

The striker scored eight goals and three assists in sixteen matches with Nacional. In the final against Liverpool from Montevideo, which was 1-4 after extra time, he was the big man with two goals. Suárez is currently preparing for the World Cup in Qatar with Uruguay. The country will compete against South Korea, Portugal and Ghana in the group stage. The former Ajax player reportedly only wants to make final decisions about his club future after the global final tournament.

Suárez gave a big interview to Marca last month about the motive for the transfer to Nacional. “I had a lot of options (in Europe, ed.). A lot. But the consideration behind the return to my country was this: Groningen, Ajax, Liverpool, Barça, Atlético; can you have a better European career? I wouldn’t have wanted to play for a lesser team than Atlético. The trajectory was perfect. I would have lowered the bar, so it seemed logical to return to Uruguay. To complete a circle.”
