Bayern Munich are in talks with Niklas Sule about a new contract. The current contract of the German defender will expire after this season and with a renewed contract the German superpower wants to prevent a transfer-free departure. According to Sports1 there is talk of a contract worth ten million euros per year.

With an expiring contract, Sule is seen as an interesting option for many clubs outside of Germany. He has already been linked in the corridors with a summer move to Newcastle United. Florian Plettenberg, journalist of Sport, reported earlier this month that there are currently no talks between Süle and the Magpies, but that all options are on the table. Head coach Julian Nagelsmann would like to keep the 37-time international for Bayern.

Sule’s agent Volker Struth denied the rumors surrounding his client and the Premier League club. “An investor has taken over that club Newcastle, making them seemingly the richest club in the world. So you get new rumors every week. Now it’s about Sule, soon it’s about Kingsley Coman and then Erling Braut Haaland again,” he told German media.

The management of Sule would like to be clear quickly and Bayern seems to be responding to that. Technical director Hasan Salihamidzic wants to extend the contract of the 26-year-old centre-back. Following up on BILD Plettenberg now also writes that a contract of ten million euros per season is possible. Moreover, Süle is not unsympathetic to a longer stay at the Allianz Arena.

Sule is not the only player whose contract Salihamidzic wants to extend. German media reported this week that a new contract for goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is also being worked on. His current contract expires in the summer of 2023. The 35-year-old keeper himself would like to stay at Bayern Munich and there are reportedly talks of a new contract until mid-2025.
