Chelsea are a possible privateer on the coast for Barcelona in the battle for Robert Lewandowski’s signature. Where in recent days various media reported an imminent switch of the Polish striker to Barcelona, the British branch of GOAL Monday that manager Thomas Tuchel Lewandowski would like to sign. The latter has indicated that he does not want to extend his contract with Bayern Munich until mid-2023.
The German Sports1 claimed last Saturday that Barcelona had reached a verbal agreement with Lewandowski on a three-year deal. It now appears that Chelsea is also keeping a close eye on the goal-getter’s situation. The Londoners are currently unable to buy players due to the sanctions imposed, but it is expected that this will become possible again with the arrival of Todd Boehly. Sky News Earlier on Monday, however, it was announced that the British government would like to see proof of the sales proceeds of the Chelsea, but it is doubtful whether Roman Abramovich will provide it before the May 31 deadline. Barcelona, in turn, must respect the strict rules of the Laliga, and must be creative to sign Lewandowski.
Lewandowski finally broke off negotiations with Bayern last week, as was confirmed on Saturday by technical director Hasan Salihamidzic. The Polish top striker is going to extend his contract and is preparing for a transfer. According to Sports1 Pini Zahavi, the agent of the veteran, had already reached an oral agreement with Barcelona. Bayern are reportedly willing to bid farewell to top striker for €35 million, who has been a striker at the Allianz Arena since 2014.
After the draw in the Bundesliga game with VfL Wolfsburg, the Polish striker acknowledged when asked that he probably played his last game in the shirt van der Rekordmeister. “It is very possible that this was my last game for Bayern. I can’t say with 100% certainty, but I’m probably leaving. We want to find the best solution for me and the club,” said the 33-year-old top scorer.
