Franck Kessié can call himself a player of Al-Ahli, Barcelona reports through the official channels. The Ivorian has successfully passed the medical examination and the Catalan top club receives 12.5 million euros for the midfielder, who was allowed to leave the Spotify Camp Nou by the Barcelona club management.
Kessié’s future at Barcelona did not seem very bright for next season, after Barcelona strengthened itself earlier this summer with Ilkay Gündogan and Oriol Romeu. Frenkie de Jong also has an advantage with trainer Xavi, making Kessié redundant. The club was therefore keen to cooperate in a departure from Kessié, who still had a contract until mid-2026.
Kessié came over from AC Milan on a free transfer in the summer of 2022, where he was a valued force. The controller eventually came to 46 appearances for Barcelona, in which he was good for 3 hits and 3 assists. On March 19 this year, Kessié stole the hearts of the Barça fans, through el Clasico scored the winning goal against Real Madrid in stoppage time (2-1). At Al-Ahli, Kessié would become a teammate of Édouard Mendy, Riyad Mahrez, Allan Saint-Maximin and Roberto Firmino, among others.
