Benjamin Pavard has offered himself to Barcelona, writes the Mundo Deportivo. After the arrival of Joåo Cancelo, the Frenchman no longer wants to compete at Bayern Munich and is therefore aiming for a move to Catalonia. Barcelona seems to like that, since Hector Bellerín will almost certainly move to Sporting Portugal.

The Athletic revealed one of the biggest surprises of this transfer window on Monday with the transfer of Cancelo. The back is rented by Bayern from Manchester City until the end of this season, with an option to buy worth seventy million euros. Since Cancelo can play on both the left and right flank, the competition for Pavard is also increasing. Although he has been first-choice at right-back for the majority of games this season, Pavard estimates his chances are bleak.

The 26-year-old back also enjoys competition from Noussair Mazraoui, who started knocking on the door more and more before his injury. In the last matches before the World Cup, the ex-Ajacied even drove Pavard from his original position to the center of the defense. However, it is unclear how the Frenchman intends to initiate his exit. Pavard is still stuck in Bavaria until mid-2024 and can therefore only leave for free in a year and a half. If Barcelona wants to get him, it will probably have to pay a transfer fee.

However, the Catalans are also working on an alternative. Barça already submitted an official offer to LA Galaxy regarding Julian Araujo, who must first move on a rental basis and then possibly permanently to Spotify Camp Nou. The Americans have already declined the first offer. In addition to Bellerín, Barcelona still has Sergi Roberto, Jules Koundé and Ronald Araújo as options in the right-back position. Alejandro Balde has also been there several times this season.
