Zakaria Bakkali is back in the Eredivisie. The now 26-year-old wing attacker has been transfer-free since this summer and will start working at RKC Waalwijk, where he signs a contract for two seasons.

“We have received several lucrative offers in recent months, but we are now very consciously choosing RKC to relaunch its career,” said his agent Bilal Achenteh in conversation with Football zone. He also likes Dutch football. RKC made a big impression in the conversations we had.”

“Mo Allach has been decisive for me as technical director and for Zakaria himself that was trainer Joseph Oosting,” continues Achenteh. “He is willing to invest in himself and there is no better platform than the Eredivisie to actually do this. We really want to do everything we can to give his career a boost again and that he can prove that the talent he had still has in him.”

Bakkali played for PSV between 2008 and 2015, after he was taken over from Standard Liège. After 24 appearances in the main squad, in which he scored four times, he left PSV for Valencia. In Spain he played forty games for loose Che and after a rental period at Deportivo la Coruña, he made the permanent switch to Anderlecht. In his first season with Anderlecht, Bakkali was still regularly in action, but the following year and a half he barely played, because then coach Vincent Kompany wanted to work with a smaller selection. After a loan to Beerschot, he returned to . in the summer of 2021 Purple-White.
