Zinho Vanheusden is close to a temporary switch to AZ, among others Sky Italy and the General Newspaper† The 23-year-old center defender comes over from Internazionale and will compete in Alkmaar with Sam Beukema and Bruno Martins Indi, among others.
Vanheusden must become the fourth summer acquisition of the Alkmaarders, who previously secured the signatures of Maiyckel Lahdo, Mees de Wit and Jens Odgaard. The single Belgian international came out on loan for Genoa last season. Partly due to persistent injuries, the defender made playing minutes in just fourteen Serie A matches and two matches in the battle for the Coppa Italia.

It came as no surprise that the defender would be stationed elsewhere again. At the beginning of June, Vanheusden’s father, Johan, had a conversation with Le Soir already hinted to take into account a rental period. “His future? We do not know yet. Inter Milan will decide and we will have to respect that choice. Right now, Zinho’s wish is simply to play and be healthy. Whether at Inter or at another club with a new loan.”
Vanheusden went through most of the youth academy of Standard Liège, after which he made the switch to Inter in the summer of 2015 for an amount of one million euros. In October 2020, the defender made his debut at the Red Devils in the exhibition game with Ivory Coast. After his cruciate ligament injury in the autumn of 2020, Vanheusden was still several times in the selection of national coach Roberto Martínez a year later, but he did not make new appearances in the national team.
