Joshua Pynadath will play for AZ for the next two years, the Alkmaar club will officially announce on Thursday. The American initially joins the club’s promise team. The twenty-year-old attacker has been training in Alkmaar since May. That way he managed to get a contract. Pynadath played in Ajax’s youth academy for about five years and left in 2020.

He last played at Ajax in the Under 19s. In that season, 2019/20, he was also allowed to show up eight times for Jong Ajax in the Kitchen Champion Division. He came to 185 official minutes in the reserves team. Pynadath has been clubless since July 2020. After his departure from Amsterdam, he was still allowed to test at Chelsea. He made an impression in London, but the American attacker could not get a work permit. Before the attacker was under contract with Ajax, he already played in the youth academy of Real Madrid for two years.

Head of youth academy Paul Brandenburg is satisfied with the latest addition, according to the AZ club website. “Joshua is a technically skilled player. A very good mover. He is able to play one-on-one duels, resulting in goals and assists. We see in him every day an enormous drive to get the most out of himself Joshua has left such an impression that we want to continue with him. He has potential. Now it’s up to us, the people around him but above all himself to get the most out of it.”

Pynadath is happy that he is finally getting a reward for his efforts during the time he was without a club. “I’ve trained really hard. Now that I’m here I just want to show what I can do. AZ is a great place for me where everyone has made me feel comfortable since day one. I’m really excited to get started.” He immediately feels at home in Alkmaar. Immediately I saw that this is a good place for me. The atmosphere in the dressing room suits me. The most important thing is also: since day one there has been a good career planning for me from the club. We immediately started working on how I can build myself for the next step, which is the first team of AZ.”
