AZ has now issued 43 stadium bans because of the disturbances after the second semi-final of the Conference League. The Alkmaarders report this on the official website. Last Thursday, after the final whistle, things got out of hand when AZ hooligans stormed the main stand, where relatives of the West Ham United players were at that time. There is a chance that more stadium bans will be imposed in the future.

After the 0-1 defeat in the AFAS Stadium, AZ had to definitively acknowledge its superiority in West Ham, which secured a place in the final over two games. All hell broke loose in Alkmaar shortly after the final whistle. AZ hooligans stormed West Ham supporters and even injured some people. AZ then announced that it would punish harshly and has put action to word.

The number four in the Eredivisie has issued a stadium ban to 43 of the rioters and does not rule out the possibility that more will follow in the future. In addition, a criminal investigation against some of them is still ongoing. On Wednesday it was announced that eleven people have now been arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault. The police were helped by showing images in the TV program Discovery Requestedafter which dozens of tips came in.

Fearing a ‘West Ham scenario’, AZ also reports that it has spoken with the local authorities about next Sunday’s match organization. The Alkmaarders will compete against PSV in the last round of the Eredivisie, which is fighting to retain second place. “The starting point is that the many thousands of well-intentioned AZ supporters must be able to experience a pleasant visit to the match,” said the communication department of AZ.
