AS Roma spilled points in the Serie A on Saturday evening. At home, the team of coach José Mourinho failed to deal with ten men in the already relegated Venezia: 1-1. The visitors opened the score in the first minute of play, after which the Romans did not equalize until deep in the second half. It was the fifth league game in a row that i Giallorossi failed to win. Due to the new loss of points, Roma (60 points from 37 games) fails to take fifth position in the ranking from Lazio (62 from 36) and the club is more likely to miss out on European football. Fiorentina and Atalanta (59) follow respectively in seventh and eighth place.
José Mourinho chose not to start with Rick Karsdorp in the starting line-up. In the right back position, the Portuguese coach preferred Carles Pérez. On the other side, a basic place had been made available for Ridgeciano Haps, who was standing in the back left. Even before the end of the first fifty seconds of the game, Venezia already took a 0-1 lead. The lack of concentration in the Roman defense was painfully exposed, as David Okereke was able to nod in complete freedom on a pass from Mattia Aramu: 0-1.

Roma was indeed shaken awake, but a hole in the defense of Venezia was not found. In the first act, Lorenzo Pellegrini came closest to equalizing, but his free kick shot shattered the crossbar. Then Roma was helped into the saddle. Around the center circle, Sofian Kiyine kicked Pellegrini’s privates, who went to the ground screaming. After viewing the video images, referee Simone Sozza decided to hand out a direct red card to the Belgian.
Although Roma created a large number of chances thanks to the numerical superiority and hit the bar twice, the equalizing goal was delayed until the 76th minute of play. After beautiful combination football with Pellegrini, Eldor Shomurodov took care of the 1-1. A few minutes before the final whistle, Nicola Zalewski also hit the bar on behalf of Roma, who could no longer escape the loss of points against the relegant.
