Juventus are taking the return of Paul Pogba very seriously, Gianluca Di Marzio reported on Saturday evening. The 29-year-old midfielder has an expiring contract with Manchester United and will speak with Juventus on Monday about a transfer-free transfer. Paris Saint-Germain is also still in the competition, while the aforementioned Manchester City is excluded for Pogba.

After Mino Raiola’s death, Pogba is provisionally represented by Rafaela Pimenta in negotiations. The lawyer of the deceased top agent will listen – in person or by phone – to Juventus’ plans with Pogba next Monday. The Frenchman is certainly open to a return to Turin, where he had the best period of his career between 2012 and 2016. Pogba briefly became the most expensive player of all time by transferring from Juventus to Manchester United for €106 million, but never found the same form in England as before in Italy.

It will depend on the conditions which club Pogba ultimately chooses, Di Marzio knows. The sporting aspect plays an important role in this. At Juventus, Pogba will have a more central role in the project than at PSG. On the other hand, the Italians’ proposal has so far been lower than that of the Paris superpower. There is a third option for the 2018 world champions, as Manchester United are still hoping for a contract extension. The offer of his current club is also financially better than that of Juventus.

Pogba certainly does not see a transfer-free switch to Manchester City, so knew the Athletic recently reported. City have the financial strength to offer the Frenchman a sizable contract, but Pogba does not want to ‘betray’ United supporters by leaving for the arch-rival. The midfielder currently earns a weekly salary of 340,000 euros at United.
