Arsenal booked a nice victory in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon. Mikel Arteta’s team came to visit Leicester City early in the game, trailing 1-0, which was eventually more than made up for: 1-3. Due to defeat neglected the Foxes, who are in third place, to temporarily take over second place from Manchester United: the teams remain equal in points (49). Arsenal, which has 37 points, is currently climbing to ninth place in the rankings.

The most notable absentee on the side of Arsenal was Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who got a rest from his trainer after his double win in the Europa League against Benfica (3-2 win). It was the team of Brendan Rodgers that started the game the most energetically, as the lead was found before the sixth minute of play ended. Leicester took advantage of Granit Xhaka’s sloppy ball loss in midfield, after which Youri Tielemans was given a free passage towards the hostile sixteen-meter area. Lack of decisiveness in the London defense gave the midfielder the opportunity to strike from close range, and did so effectively: 1-0.

More than five minutes after the goal against, Arsenal thought they were already getting a chance to level up, when referee Paul Tierney pointed to the spot. Tielemans’ foul on Nicolas Pépé was found to be too light by the video referee, however, and Tierney’s decision was reversed: no penalty. The equalizer was found a few minutes before half time. On the right side of the field, a free kick was awarded for a foul by Luke Thomas on Pépé, after which Willian was allowed to stand behind the ball. The Brazilian had a nice kick in the house and served David Luiz, who outwitted goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel with a placed header: 1-1.

It became even better for Arsenal, as the team even took the lead in the final minute of the first company. Wilfred Ndidi, by making a clumsy handball after a shot by Pépé, left Tierney no choice but to put the ball on the spot. Captain Alexandre Lacazette took his responsibility, and the striker fired in the 1-2 convincingly from eleven meters. Pépé, who played an excellent game and caused the greatest danger on behalf of Arsenal, was rewarded for the attacking spirit seven minutes after the break. After a self-designed attack, the leather ended up at the feet of the attacker, who was able to type in cold blood from close range: 1-3. Subsequently, a deadlock broke which, partly due to a missed opportunity by substitute Aubameyang, was no longer broken.
