Arsenal feels robbed after an extremely exciting first leg in the quarter-final of the Champions League against Bayern Munich (2-2). The Gunners wanted a penalty when Bukayo Saka collided with goalkeeper Manuel Neuer in minute 90+5, but referee Glenn Nyberg blew the whistle instead.

Somewhat by coincidence, Saka broke through Bayern's defense deep in injury time of the second half. The Arsenal right winger came at high speed towards Neuer, who was far from his goal.

Saka just tapped the ball around Neuer, after which the pair collided. Saka appeared to extend his right leg slightly. Arsenal's star player was left on the grass in great pain and hoped that referee Nyberg would blow his whistle for a penalty.

Instead, the final whistle sounded at the Emirates Stadium. Pol van Boekel could have reversed that, but the VAR on duty did not even call the Swedish referee to the sidelines to view the images. There is a lot of anger on Arsenal's part about this.

Van Boekel was faced with another questionable VAR moment earlier in a match. Bayern striker Harry Kane landed his elbow in Gabriel's neck and was shown a yellow card. Van Boekel again did not intervene.
