Antony is still in heaven for his dream debut for Manchester United last Sunday. The Brazilian got himself off to a perfect start in the service of the Red Devils by providing the opening goal in the handsome 3-1 victory over Arsenal. However, Antony does not want to take too much credit: it mainly belongs to Marcus Rashford, according to the wing striker.

After just over 34 minutes of play, Rashford cleared the ball in the penalty area for Antony’s favorite left leg. The ex-Ajacied didn’t hesitate for a moment and outwitted Aaron Ramsdale with a viewed slider in the far corner. “Marcus gave a perfect pass, so I didn’t have to do much more,” Antony recalls. Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho also deserve credit according to the attacker. “Bruno had the ball – I think he kept Gabriel Jesus away from him – and gave the ball to Jadon. He gave it to Marcus and I knew he could get the ball off either side. But Marcus, a very intelligent player, realized that I could sprint.”

“He gave the ball and I took the opportunity well,” concludes Antony. The multi-million dollar purchase managed to keep his nerves in check, even though he got goosebumps when he stepped onto the field. “Because I knew how much I wanted to be here and how much the audience wanted this. When I just saw it vibrate, I let all my feelings run free. Yes, I definitely got goosebumps.”

After Arsenal tied the score via Bukayo Saka after an hour of play, Rashford secured United’s victory with a double hit. Antony had already made way for Cristiano Ronaldo by then. With the win, Erik ten Hag and Manchester United rose to fifth place in the Premier League ranking. It marked the fourth victory in a row for the Tukker, after his first two league games were lost.
