Ajax is testing Julian Rijkhoff's patience, Mike Verweij reports on behalf of The Telegraph. The nineteen-year-old striker of Borussia Dortmund is currently waiting in his hometown of Purmerend for an agreement between both clubs, but the Amsterdammers would rather sell first before attracting a new player.

And that says a lot about Ajax's financial position, Verweij writes. The club offered an amount of one and a half million euros with bonuses and a resale percentage on Monday. Dortmund, who subsequently made a counter-offer, wanted 'a fraction more', it sounds.

Those Boruses are fine with Ajax paying the transfer fee in installments, but financial director Susan Lenderink still wants to sell first before an incoming transfer is completed. This may be Chuba Akpom, who is in the interest of Lille OSC and clubs from the Premier League and Bundesliga.

Ajax is taking a risk by waiting for the final agreement with Dortmund. Verweij reports that other clubs inquire with the striker's agent, Dick van Burik, whether they still have a chance of Rijkhoff's signature. However, the player himself still prefers a return to Ajax, it sounds.

'Ajax has almost secured Rijkhoff'

Tim van Duijn reported earlier on Tuesday that Ajax has almost secured its old youth player. The club watcher from Football International said that in the column TransferTalk. “They've almost got it. That will be a formality.”

“I don't know if they can pull that off today (Tuesday, ed.), but that will be tomorrow (Wednesday, ed.) at the latest. It concerns a small transfer fee, around one and a half million euros. Maybe a little more, with high bonuses and a sell-through rate. Then he just comes back. I think he can sign until 2028. You can fill that in,” Van Duijn was certain.

Rijkhoff comes from Ajax's youth academy and left for Dortmund at the beginning of 2021, which paid 130,000 euros for his services. The right foot also proves to be a goalscorer in Germany, but his official debut in the main squad has not yet been made. Rijkhoff scored 52 goals and 13 assists in 57 games for Dortmund's Under 19 team. The Dutch youth international is contracted until mid-2026 those Boruses.
