UEFA has announced the list of Ajax players for the knockout phase of the Champions League. The Amsterdammers have prevented a new ‘checkmark gate’ by ‘just’ registering Brian Brobbey and Mohammed Ihatteren. Last year Ajax forgot to register Sébastien Haller as a brand new purchase for European football.

Due to an administrative blunder, Haller was unable to make minutes for Ajax in the Europa League in the second half of the season. This season, all players from the first team are eligible to play, according to the list of players that the team from Amsterdam has supplied to UEFA. Only mercenary Patrickson Delgado is not registered.

Ajax still had room on the list for the eighteen-year-old midfielder, but the Ecuadorian hired from Independiente del Valle joined Jong Ajax last month and will make his minutes in the U23 team this season. Ajax will face Benfica in the eighth finals of the Champions League on February 23, after which the return in the Johan Cruijff ArenA is scheduled three weeks later on March 15.
