Galatasaray shared the points with Kayserispor in the Süper Lig on Saturday evening. At home it looked as if the team of coach Domenèc Torrent would even run into a defeat, but in the 85th minute Mostafa Mohamed equalized: 1-1. It was the sixth league game in a row that Galatasaray, which is thirteenth, failed to take the three points. Kayserispor retains eighth place in the Turkish ranking for the time being.

As in the last two matches, Torrent had cleared a starting spot for both Ryan Babel and Patrick van Aanholt. At the same time, Halil Dervisoglu had to settle for a spot on the bench. At Kayserispor, Bilal Bayazit was under the bar, just like in the won cup match with Fenerbahçe (0-1). From the first whistle, Galatasaray fanatically went in search of the opening goal. In the fourth minute of play, Bafetimbi Gomis nodded just wide after a cross from Babel, after which the same duo created danger again a few minutes later.

Galatasaray’s attacking spirit did not yield a goal in the first half, despite a large number of opportunities created. The lack of sharpness in the finish cost the home team dearly, as Kayserispor grabbed the lead in the 69th minute. It was Miguel Cardoso who provided the opening goal on a pass from Lionel Carole: 0-1. Galatasaray feared defeat, but they came alongside five minutes before the end of regular time. After a corner from Kerem Aktürkoglu, Mostafa Mohamed scored the equalizer: 1-1.
