Bas Dost will be the new attack leader of FC Utrecht. Football International knows that the Domstedelingen are close to an agreement with the 33-year-old striker, who will leave Club Brugge on a free transfer this summer. With this, Dost returns to the Eredivisie ten years after his departure abroad. An official presentation is reportedly only a matter of time.

The weekly already revealed last week that Utrecht was emphatically in the market for the tall striker, just like FC Emmen and Feyenoord. Dost started his professional career in 2007 at Emmen, which hoped to make a psychological profit. Feyenoord was looking and still looking for offensive reinforcements after the departure of both Bryan Linssen and Cyriel Dessers. Currently, only Danilo is considered a serious option for the striker position in Rotterdam, so the arrival of Dost would offer a solution.

Football International now adds that Dost also enjoyed concrete interest from the Bundesliga. The eighteen-time the Dutch-international had varying successes at VfL Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt. Still, Dost opts for a career continuation at Utrecht, which was still looking for a finisher: Tasos Douvikas and Henk Veerman have not yet managed to break any pots. Earlier this week, the club from the Domstad also assured itself of offensive zest with Daishawn Redan, who comes over from Hertha BSC on a rental basis.

Dost and Redan are just two names that are part of the extensive selection renovation in Utrecht. This transfer window already assured Henk Fraser’s team of the arrival of Taylor Booth (Bayern Munich), Luuk Brouwers (Go Ahead Eagles), Nick Viergever (Greuther Fürth), Vasilis Barkas (Celtic), Calvin Raatsie (Ajax) and Joshua Rawlins (Perth Glory). In addition, Nordin Amrabat is also nominated to strengthen the Utrecht team, only his club AEK Athens is currently still a problem. Ramon Hendriks initially also belonged to the list of reinforcements. The defender of Feyenoord would be rented by Utrecht including an option to buy, but tore his cruciate ligament on vacation.
