AC Milan quite easily continued the unbeaten status in the Serie A on Sunday evening. The team of trainer Stefano Pioli was 2-3 too strong when visiting Atalanta. For a moment the Milanese seemed to give up a 0-3 lead, but Atalanta’s final offensive came too late. Marten de Roon started at Atalanta in the starting line-up, while Teun Koopmeiners came in halfway through. Thanks to the victory, Milan continues to follow in the footsteps of leader Napoli and follows two points behind in second place.

Although Milan was already looking at a 0-2 lead at halftime, there was little to notice based on the game image. The visitors quickly dealt a big blow, when captain Davide Calabria took advantage of a big mistake by Juan Musso within the minute: 1-0. The Atalanta goalkeeper had the ball up for grabs, but inexplicably tapped the ball back into the feet of the Milan wing defender, for whom it was then a breeze to finish. Atalanta had opportunities in the first act, but was unhappy in the final. A header by Duván Zapata from a corner, among other things, deserved a better fate.

While the equalizer went up in the air, Milan doubled the lead just before half-time. This time it was preceded by a huge mistake by Remo Freuler. The midfielder easily lost the ball to Tonali, who then enjoyed a free passage and found the short corner with a placed shot: 0-2. Gian Piero Gasperini then brought Koopmeiners into the halfway line, but had to see how his team struggled to break through the defense of Milan after the break. After Musso first had a good intervention on a header from close range by Alexis Saelemaekers, Rafael Leão ended the game ten minutes before the end.

In the switch, the attacker was found on the edge of the box by Theo Hernández, after which he did not hesitate and lashed out in the right corner: 0-3. Atalanta seemed to resign himself to those numbers, but in the final phase he straightened up once more and received a salary after working. A shot by Davide Zappacosta came on the arm of Junior Messias, after which referee Marco Di Bello put the ball on the spot on the advice of the VAR. Zapata knew what to do with the opportunity and shot devastatingly: 1-3. The final chord came in injury time from the foot of Mario Pasalic, who was ready to finish at the far post after two Milan players failed to intervene: 2-3.
