Rafael Leao has responded to an AC Milan supporter who threatened to amputate his leg if the 23-year-old striker does not sign a new contract at the San Siro this summer. Leão, whose current contract ends in 2024, was transferred to Milan in the summer of 2019 for around €30 million and played an important role in achieving the Scudetto last season.

The Italian champions are reportedly in the process of signing Leão for longer, but the attacker was also recently linked with a transfer to Chelsea. This rumor caused great unrest among an AC Milan supporter. The fan in question has a tattoo of Leão on his lower leg, which he showed in a video he posted to his Twitter account on July 14.

The account, created under the name Gabriele, also contained a rather disturbing caption. “If he (Leão, ed.) does not renew his contract, I will amputate my leg,” the caption read. The post has received more than 800 likes and has also been seen by Leão himself, who responded immediately to try to get its supporter off. The nine-time international of Portugal posted a series of emojis showing crying faces and praying hands.

Leão had 11 goals and eight assists in 34 Serie A matches last season, helping Milan to their first league title in 11 years. The talented attacker also spoke about speculation about his future halfway through the season. “I’m happy with AC Milan and I want to make history here. I really love my life at this club,” he told DAZN. Leão also confirmed that his representatives are in talks with the club about a contract extension. Italian media recently reported that he has been offered a new five-year contract.
