There is a good chance that Kasper Dolberg will have to look for a new employer. The striker of OGC Nice seems, according to the usually reliable Foot Mercato not to appear in the plans of trainer Lucien Favre, who took over the helm from Christophe Galtier who left for Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer.

Favre joined Nice at the end of June and plans to make a significant number of changes to the squad. The coach reportedly wants to play in a 4-3-3 system, in which Dolberg is not the intended first striker. Last season the Dane had to tolerate Amine Gouiri in the striker position and next season the former Ajax player does not seem to have a chance of a basic place.

Dolberg is not the only name that may start from Les Aiglons. At the moment there seem to be several clubs in the race for the signature of mainstays Gouiri, Khéphren Thuram and Jean-Clair Todibo. The latter is linked to Sevilla and Napoli, among others. Although the trio are not on the transfer list, Nice would consider selling if an offer cannot be refused. Mario Lemina and Morgan Schneiderlin appear to be in the same boat as Dolberg and may leave the club against any reasonable offer.

In the summer of 2019, Dolberg left Ajax for Nice for an amount of approximately 20.5 million euros. Where the attacker left a good impression in the first season, he was hardly in the scene last football year. In the 2021/22 season, Dolberg played in 26 Ligue 1 matches, in which he scored 6 times and provided 2 assists. At the end of June, Dolberg was Foot Mercato still linked to Brentford.
