Jules Koundé has read with surprise the reports in the Spanish media about his alleged departure. The Barcelona defender is said to be dissatisfied with his role as a right-back and is therefore aiming for an early exit from the Spotify Camp Nou. However, Koundé says on Twitter “not going anywhere”. “I never said I want to leave,” said the 24-year-old Frenchman.

Koundé was taken from Sevilla for fifty million euros last summer and came in as a central defender. Trainer Xavi, however, mainly uses him as a right back at Barcelona. That would be against the sore leg of Koundé, who would prefer to be used again in his original position. Partly for this reason, he would like to close the door behind him in Catalonia after one season.

However, the rumors are resolutely dismissed by the protagonist himself. “To make it clear: I never said I want to leave and I’m not going anywhere,” Koundé wrote on Twitter. In that case, the Frenchman will also have to focus on the right-back position next season. The center of Barcelona is already well occupied with Ronald Araújo, Andreas Christensen, Eric García and Íñigo Martínez coming from Athletic Club.

On the right wing, Koundé basically only competes with Sergi Roberto. Julian Araújo, attracted in the winter, is being prepared in the shade, but is not yet considered ready for the big work. Koundé started from the right 21 times in his 38 appearances this season, while playing as center back the other 17 times. In total, he scored once and was the principal six times.
