Alfred Schreuder accuses his players of laziness after the deception against FC Emmen (3-3). The Ajax coach had the feeling in the second half that his players were no longer giving everything and had to watch as a 1-3 lead turned into a very disappointing draw. “The second half was just a disgrace on our part”, Schreuder judges harshly towards ESPN.

“We started very badly and gave away a free kick very badly. That should not happen there”, said Schreuder, who saw how Jeroen Veldmate curled the free ball beautifully into the intersection. “We came back well in the end and turned it into our own. At halftime we were 1-3 ahead, although we gave away a big chance just before that. At half time we indicated that we had to go for the 1-4 to decide. Mohammed Kudus missed a great chance of that.”

From that moment it went quickly downhill at Ajax. “After the 2-3 (by Richairo Zivkovic, ed.) you saw that we actually did almost everything wrong. That is simply not possible. You were 1-3 ahead, you just have to cross the line.” In midweek Ajax did not pass Vitesse (2-2). “Today it was a different problem than last Wednesday,” says Schreuder, who is hard on his players. “In the second half they thought they were already there, I think. We all just did that badly. I am responsible for that.”

Schreuder tried in vain to turn the tide. “You try to intervene, to put it differently, with two numbers 6 for the defense. Well, if you see how that 3-3 goes in, that is also very clumsy.” A cross from Mohamed Bouchouari passed everyone and also surprised Remko Pasveer. Schreuder thinks he can stay in Amsterdam. “I assume that. We know what we have started. At the moment it is painful and for a moment very moderate. We know what we have to do and what has to change. We will have to evaluate, take a good look in the mirror for yourself , and see what we need to change.”
