Antoine Griezmann will not play for France during the friendly matches against Germany and Chile, it has been reported ESPN. The Atlético Madrid attacker thus sees an end to a series of 84 consecutive international matches on behalf of the national team.

It is Griezmann's choice not to take action on behalf of the upcoming international match. The Frenchman has informed Didier Deschamps that he is still experiencing too much trouble from an ankle injury.

Griezmann reported on Monday in Clairefontaine-en-Yvelines, the place where the French team is preparing for Germany and Chile, but decided to withdraw from the national selection there.

Griezmann was sidelined in the top match against FC Barcelona last weekend, but had to save the furniture halfway through the match when João Félix had given the visitors the lead.

Griezmann's withdrawal means an end to a streak of 84 consecutive games on behalf lesson Bleus. It is the first time in 7.5 years that the attacker has to miss a match for the national team. That's a world record.

France will practice against Germany on Saturday (9 p.m.) and will take on Chile three days later (9 p.m.). The match against the Germans will take place in the Groupama Stadium of Olympique Lyon. The Stade Vélodrome of Olympique Marseille is the setting against Chile.

The above matches are an important indicator for Deschamps, as his team is placed in a group with the Dutch team at the European Championship. Austria is also in Group D. Poland, Wales, Finland or Estonia complete the group.
