Olympique Lyon is about to bring in Sardar Azmoun, reports L’Equipe. The club of trainer Peter Bosz personally agrees with the 26-year-old striker and also expects to quickly reach a settlement with Zenit Saint Petersburg. Lyon will transfer around fifteen million euros exclusive bonuses for the Iranian, who will sign for four years.

For Bosz, the arrival of a new number nine is one of his two top priorities this transfer window. Lyon lost its attack leader with Memphis Depay, who went to Barcelona on a free transfer, and will therefore bring in Azmoun as a replacement. Bosz spoke several times by phone with the attacker this summer, whom he also wanted to bring to Bayer Leverkusen. The Dutch coach finally managed to convince Azmoun to come to Lyon.

This summer is one of the last chances for Zenit St Petersburg to receive a decent transfer fee, as Azmoun does not want to renew his contract expiring next year. The champion of Russia initially asked for 25 million euros, but is now adding water to the wine. Azmoun was acquired by Zenit from Rubin Kazan two years ago for twelve million euros. The striker has an impressive 58 goals and 20 assists in 90 games for Zenit.

At the same time, Lyon will say goodbye to Maxwel Cornet, adds L’Equipe up. The 24-year-old left-back is being sold to Burnley for seventeen million euros. Cornet was picked up by Lyon six years ago for several hundred thousand euros from FC Metz and played no fewer than 252 official games (51 goals and 29 assists) for the French top club. Lyon already signed Xherdan Shaqiri (Liverpool), Henrique (Vasco da Gama) and Damien Da Silva (Stade Rennes) this summer and hired Emerson Palmieri from Chelsea.
