Lille OSC booked a hard-fought victory over Olympique Lyon on Sunday evening. At the Parc Olympique Lyonnais, the home team enjoyed a 2-1 lead at halftime, which was turned around in the second company by trainer Christophe Galtier’s team: 2-3. Burak Yilmaz was the big man on the side of Lille (73 points) with two goals and an assist, which thanks to the victory recaptures the lead at the expense of Paris Saint-Germain (72). AS Monaco (71), which earlier in the day won 0-1 against Angers SCO, follows in third position, while Lyon (67) seems to be dropping out in the title fight. Memphis Depay couldn’t play a significant role.
Olympique Lyon – Lille OSC 2-3
After an opening phase in which both teams searched, the match became more attractive from the seventeenth minute. On behalf of Lyon, Islam Slimani received a tailor-made pass in the box, but shot just over from a promising position. Three minutes later, the attacker managed to open the score. Maxence Caqueret got the ball on the back line and then put it back to Slimani, who scored the 1-0 in the short corner. Ten minutes after Jonathan David’s equalizer was disallowed for offside, Lyon doubled the lead.
After a free kick from the right, Sven Botman hindered his own goalkeeper Mike Maignan, who dived under the ball. After an hour of play there was another star role for Yilmaz, who gratefully benefited from a very weak back pass from Lucas Paqueta. The Monegasken had a difficult afternoon at the Stade Raymond-Kopa, where it took until the 79th minute before the liberating opening goal was found. Youssouf Fofana sent a perfect through ball from the center line to Wissam Ben Yedder, who took the ball with him and finished with a nice marker: 0-1.
