Chelsea have had a terrible first half in the Premier League match against Brighton & Hove Albion. After five minutes of play, manager Graham Potter’s team was already facing a 1-0 deficit, which rose even further in the remainder of the first half: 3-0 at halftime.
At Chelsea, which managed to win 1-2 in the Champions League against Red Bull Salzburg on Tuesday, two other players were at the kick-off compared to that game. Mason Mount and Ruben Loftus-Cheek were allowed to show it against Brighton from the first minute, at the expense of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Jorginho. The latter started on the bench, as did Hakim Ziyech. The Brighton side was missing Joël Veltman, who was out with an injury against Manchester City last week (3-1 defeat).

Brighton opened the score before the end of the fifth minute of play. Thanks to an excellent pass from Kaoru Mitoma, Leandro Trossard came face to face with goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who was outwitted with a well-thought-out marker: 1-0. The lead was doubled ten minutes later, when Loftus-Cheek unfortunately passed his own goalkeeper. Received the third goal the Blues on the stroke of the rest signal. This time Trevoh Chalobah was the unlucky one: the centre-back also unintentionally defeated Kepa in an attempt to intercept a pass: 3-0.
