In the eyes of Youri Mulder and Rafael van der Vaart, Ajax does very little in the first half against Ludogorets. The team from Amsterdam defends a 1-4 lead in the return of the play-offs of the Europa League and does so in an uninspiring way. Especially the game of Devyne Rensch is very disappointing to Mulder. “It’s going way too slow,” says Mulder Ziggo Sport.

Ajax gave nothing away, but also created nothing at all for rest. “What I see is too much rest on the ball,” says Mulder in general. “Rest on the ball is basically okay, but now there are eleven players with only rest. It’s going too slow. If you need to speed up, they’re just technically short.” Right back Rensch in particular is falling through the ice, according to the analyst.

“A ball under his foot that he goes over the sideline, that can happen once, but it is constantly much too slow with him, no good balls … Carlos Forbs (the right winger, ed.) Often runs very good free pass, but then he looks very bad because he doesn’t get the ball. Simple balls that you just have to give. Rensch starts running with the ball, that’s how it is all the time…”

Van der Vaart picks three defenders at Ajax. “He, Jakov Medic and Owen Wijndal, that is really very, very mediocre. I am disappointed, because Rensch can do much better. But zero confidence. We also know from Wijndal that he can do better … It is no longer a shadow of the player he was at AZ, that boy from St. Pauli… He shot one ball in (world goal against Heracles Almelo, ed.), then we hoped that this would be him, but that is not yet the case. “
